A particularly attractive and well proportioned French Bow-Fronted Four Glass mantle clock c1880. Bow fronted rectangular brass case with bevelled glass panels. Pierced floral decorative frets at its plinth and cornice, and with fluted front columns. Painted white enamelled dial with blue Roman numerals and black minute ring marked with Arabic numerals. Pierced gilt hands and decorative bezel. An 8-day movement striking the hours and half hour on a silvered coiled gong. Pendulum with filigree-worked bob and adjustable Brocot suspension for fine regulation. Backplate stamped with clockmakers mark "A&N". Supplied with keys. The clock measures 25 cm in height, 16 cm width and 14 cm depth. Excellent time-keeper. Watch a short video of it striking (above).
