A very lovely pair of Kralik iridescent crackle glass vases c1900. The vases are of an elongated waisted form with short collar necks. Rainbow surface iridescence over a crackle pale-green ground. A pair of beautiful vases of many characters depending on light!  The vases measure 25.5 cm in height. Unmarked as is typical of Kralik glass.

Crackle Glass was thought to have been developed by Venetian glass makers of the 16th Century.  This process requires molten hot glass to be immersed in cold water causing the piece of glass to crack.  The glass is then reheated and blown into shape.  The reheating of the glass seals the cracks in the glass.
