Impressive French marble striking mantle clock in the Empire style c1890. Quality break-fronted black marble case wrapped by gilt brass mounts of neo-classical scenes either side. Stepped black marble plinth on a gilt brass base. Stepped top surmounted by a finely cast and chased statue of a lion. The dial consists of a gilt brass chapter ring with Arabic numerals and black enamel recessed inner dial with central gilt filigree detail. Brass collets to winding holes and working Brocot adjustment to top of dial for fine regulation. Dial covered with a hinged bezel with bevelled glass and crested by gilt mount with ribbon bow and foliate detail. A twin-train 8-day movement striking the hours and half hour on a coiled gong. The clock measures approximately 45 cm in height. Base is approximately 46 cm in width and 22 cm in depth. The clock's movement is covered by our 12-month warranty within the UK.
