Very elegant Japanese Meiji period cloisonne vase c1880. The vase has an ovoid body with elongated narrow neck. Cloisonne (or Shippo) design of iris flowers and leaves around the body extending up through the neck. Ground has been finely textured - giving rise to this style's often used description of Japanese "tree-bark" cloisonne. Areas of patterned texturing likely to be 'signature' patterns unique to the artist. The vase is 29 cm in height.
