Impressively large 19th century Japanese Imari charger with scalloped rim. Particularly finely painted in traditional Imari colours with gilt over-painting. This charger is a quality example of the Imari porcelain ware that was made for export during the Meiji period. It has an unglazed foot and imprints on its underside from supports used during firing. Ground has a blue tint. Typically unmarked. This charger measures 45 cm in diameter.
