Very attractive hand-blown, blue and gold art glass goblet from Mdina Glass in the "crystal" pattern. Heavy blue/turquoise coloured cup on a clear, shaped stem and clear foot. Design by Michael Harris. The goblet is 16.5cm in height and 10.5 across its rim. Signed Mdina Glass 1977 and also signed by Eric Dobson. A lovely collector's piece and uncommon to find Mdina Glass pieces dated and signed by one of its founders.
 
Eric Dobson and Michael Harris came to Malta from the UK and founded Mdina Glass in 1968. Using traditional artisan techniques Mdina Glass established its growing export markets through quality and innovative designs. In 1987 Mdina Glass won the International Award for Tradition and Prestige in Brussels. The company has kept its glass making at Mdina, Malta.
