A quality solid sterling silver photograph frame by Frederick Brasted, London 1918. The photograph frame is of plain rectangular form with a broad border. Particularly heavy gauge solid silver frame with inset back-board behind a glass picture cover. Back-board with hinged strut support - both professionally recovered in quality navy-blue cotton velvet and navy watermarked moire backing. Hallmarked for the London assay office 1918 and for silversmith Frederick Brasted. The frame measures 20.5 cm by 15.5 cm. Aperture measures 17.25 cm by 12.25 cm.
Little is recorded for London silversmith Frederick Brasted except that he registered his first mark in partnership with John Bell in 1857. He subsequently registered a mark on his own, also with the London assay office in 1862. He produced a number of high quality silver items.
