A good and unusual, Regency rosewood and burr elm fold-over card table c1815. The table has a D-shaped rosewood top with inset, burr elm crossband. Breakfront rosewood apron with inset burr elm crossbands and burr elm detail to leg tops. Apron has a raised central panel with boxwood edging and inlaid boxwood scrolls and brass edge moulding to bottom. Raised on four turned, tapered solid rosewood legs with brass bee-hive mounts to leg tops. Legs with turned tulip motif to top and contrasting bobbins below, terminating in brass hairy paw feet. Hinged rear legs fold outwards to support the opened top. Playing surface is of period, tooled faded red suede-pigskin with rosewood crossbanded edge. Restored to a high standard and retaining its original antique finish. The table is 73.5 cm in height, its top when folded measuring 91 cm in width and 45 cm depth. A very functional occasional table or lovely console table.

  • This card table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Minor historic marks, wear and repair as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture. Gate-leg and table-top hinges are solid and in perfect working order. Age-faded playing surface in very good condition with minor signs of use. Table retains its original finish.
