Soldano was awarded medals for his carriage clocks at both the 1855 and 1878 Paris Exhibitions where the quality of his escapements was particularly singled out for praise. Soldano supplied Dent's amongst other renowned makers and retailers.

Until its closure in 2010, West & Son had been one of Eire's oldest firms. Founded in 1792 it had supplied Queen Victoria with watchers and jewellery - with pieces still held in the Royal Collection today. For an overview of the development of the carriage clock visit our Maker's History pages.
