Attractive and unusual vaseline (uranium) glass posy vase with fluted opalescent rim. Pale yellow (vaseline) glass to its base with opalescent 'corkscrew' fluted rim. 19cm diameter, 8.5cm height.
 
Vaseline (or uranium) glass glows green under ultraviolet light because of the uranium oxide which added to the glass in its molten state. In natural or indoor light, Vaseline glass is transparent or translucent with a yellow or yellow-green tinge. Not to be confused with Custard glass or Burmese glass, which also glow under ultraviolet light but are opaque.
