A fine quality William IV rosewood worktable in the Gillows manner c1830. Rectangular rosewood top with gadrooned edge. Rosewood apron with single recessed drawer to front with gadrooned moulding. With similarly recessed and gadrooned dummy drawers to sides and rear – making this piece work in the round. Front and dummy drawers all with brass escutcheons – working lock with key to front drawer which also has internal partitions. Tabletop supported by a tapering column above an anthemion carved central pedestal. Raised on a quadriform base with gadrooned edge (matching drawer fronts) and carved scroll detail to underside between paws. Base with carved hairy paw feet and original inset brass castors. Retains its original finish and patina. The worktable measures 82 cm in height. Tabletop is 48 cm wide and 40 cm deep.
