Classically elegant French brass corniche cased carriage clock retailed by Reid & Sons, Newcastle c1890. The clock has its original, fully jewelled cylinder platform escapement. Roman numerals with minute ring on a white enamelled face with blued steel hands. Backplate stamped "ACC" (unknown) and with adjustment arrow as used on many Couaillet movements. An 8-day duration timepiece mechanism. Supplied with brass double-ended key. The clock measures 10.5 cm height excluding handle (14 cm to top of handle), 8 cm width and 6 cm depth. Excellent time-keeper. Fully cleaned and serviced. A lovely pre-1900 example.
