Early 20th century complete and original set of war office drawing instruments in a solid mahogany case. Made by J J Threadwell and originally supplied to the UK government. The set consists of two tiers of nickel-silver instruments together with stamped ebony parallel rule and celluloid scale rule/protractor housed within its lid. Case lined in blue silk and blue velvet. Instruments and rules marked with the War Office broad arrow and/or makers J.J.T. (also J.J.T.&S.). Case also stamped J.J.T.&S. Measures 19.5 cm x 12 cm x 5 cm.

J J Threadwell are not as well recognised as other leading makers since their instruments and sets were rarely signed. In addition to selling sets under their own name they made high quality instruments for other firms including Charles Baker, W F Stanley, and Troughton & Simms.
