Elegant Art Nouveau silver dressing table mirror by Lawrence Emanuel, Birmingham 1908. Shaped broad silver frame which is domed in profile. Inset with a bevelled rectangular mirror. Charcoal-black Moroccan leather covered back. Clear hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office 1908 and LE for silversmith Lawrence Emanuel. The frame's external dimensions (maximum) are 30 cm in height and 25 cm in width. The inset bevelled mirror measures 20 cm by 15 cm.


Silversmith Lawrence Emanuel was active from the late 1880s to c1936 based at Warstone Parade, Birmingham. He registered his first mark (L.E) at the Birmingham Assay Office in 1886 and London Assay Office 1887. He was known for a range of small quality items from brooches and buckles to condiment sets and clocks.

  • This dressing table mirror is in overall excellent condition commensurate with age. Very minor signs of age to the silver frame. Easel frame and support leg are solid. Moroccan leather to back is in excellent restored condition - the leather to the support leg having been replaced. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
