A fine George III satinwood and kingwood crossbanded, polychrome decorated Pembroke table in the Sheraton style c1790. The table has two drop leaves which lift to form an oval. Oval top with kingwood crossbanding, decorated with a central medallion of acanthus leaves, repeated around the oval border. Each leaf decorated with a classical figure within a medallion together with ribbons and floral swags. Two bow fronted drawers with kingwood crossbands – one fitted with compartments. Kingwood band to lower edge of bow fronted apron, which is raised on four husk decorated, tapered legs with kingwood collars, terminating in brass square-cup castors. Drawers with working locks and key. The table is 71 cm in height. The top with folded leaves measures 55.5 cm in
