Maud Bowden was one of the many long-serving Doulton Lambeth assistants - starting in 1903 when the elaborate designs of the Victorian period changed into more simple tube-lined designs. She worked at Royal Doulton until 1937, when the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles were in decline. Lily Partington worked at Doulton Lambeth from early in the 1920's into the 1930's. Both were well regarded as Senior Assistants - both assisting Doulton artists as well as making their own pieces. For information on Royal Doulton visit our Maker's History pages.
Pair of Royal Doulton Art Nouveau Stoneware Vases c1925
These vases are in perfect original condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Salt-glazing naturally produced a stippled effect on the finished colour, sometimes with the under-glaze or body colour visible in places - this is seen on these pieces. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
