Very lovely example of Royal Doulton's "Natural Foliage Ware" by Florrie Jones c1905. Classic baluster-form footed vase with everted rim. Attractively coloured stippled ground onto which real leaves were arranged and pressed. These were carefully removed to leave a faithful detailed impression which was then painted - each vase therefore unique. (For an example of the same vase with a different leaf design see "The Doulton Lambeth Wares" by Desmond Eyles, Revised by Louise Irvine, 2002 p176.)  Impressed Royal Doulton mark to base used 1902-1921 on Lambeth Ware. Incised monograms (FJ for Florrie Jones and m for Susan Marshall). The vase measures 30.5 cm in height.

Florrie Jones is listed as working at Doulton as Senior Assistant before 1902 and worked at Royal Doulton until 1928. Her work was well regarded and she completed a number of original designs. Susan Marshall is listed as working at Doulton as an Assistant c1895 to 1928. For more information on Royal Doulton visit our Maker's History pages.
