A quality vintage Elliott clock for Collingwood & Son Ltd c1960. The clock has an 8-day Elliot movement in a walnut veneered case, raised on a base with feet. Ivory satin face with brass hands. Bevelled glass with brass square bezel. Integral winding key and thumb-button for hands. Retailed by jewellers and clockmakers Collingwood & Son Ltd. Overall dimensions are 14cm height, 12.5cm width and 6.5cm depth. Signed face and back. Excellent timekeeper.

 

Collingwood & Sons, watchmakers and jewellers established their first shop in 1880 in Middlesbrough. Initially known predominantly as silversmiths, they subsequently opened premises in Hartlepool, Newcastle and Sunderland. The firm converted to a limited liability in 1909 - ceasing trading in the 1960's.

Elliott have a long tradition of quality clockmaking - eventually forming their own world renown company of FW Elliot in 1925. The company ceased trading in 1998.
